Automobile Insurance
All University drivers must agree to follow the provisions of the Safe Driver Program.
University-Owned and Leased Vehicles
As part of the university’s primary fleet for departments and schools. These vehicles are owned or leased through Enterprise and managed under the fleet management program. Not to be confused with Rented Vehicles through the Daily/Short-term rental program through Enterprise.
- When you are driving a University-owned or leased vehicle on business, the vehicle is covered under the University’s insurance program.
- Accidental physical damage to University-owned and leased vehicles is covered under the same program.
- Departments, individuals, or organizations are responsible for the deductible before the University’s insurance applies.
Renting a Vehicle on University Business
As part of the Daily/Short-term Rental Program through National and Enterprise. Staff, Faculty, and Individual students renting vehicles on university business or in conjunction with required course curriculum should book under Business Use. Damage Waiver (DW) and Supplemental Liability Protection (SLP) is included in the rate.
- Faculty, staff and Students are encouraged to rent vehicles from National and Enterprise through the Daily/Short-term Rental Program as insurance is included in the rental agreement at no additional cost to the traveler.
- Rentals outside of the Daily/Short-term Rental Program through National and Enterprise do not have primary coverage available.
- Faculty, Staff, and Students are encouraged to avoid using personal vehicles when traveling on business, and instead use the Daily/Short-term Rental Program - offered through the Department of Procurement and Payment Services. When you drive your personal vehicle, your automobile insurance becomes primary to any insurance maintained by the University. The University is not responsible for any physical damage to your vehicle which may occur during University business.
Student Group/Organization Rentals
As part of the Daily/Short-term Rental Program through National and Enterprise and for student groups or organizations needing to rent a vehicle on campus in conjunction with university related activities.
- Insurance coverage is excluded from the rate.
- DW and SLP should be purchased from the rental agency.

International Rentals
- When renting a vehicle internationally, travelers should purchase a Collision Damage Waiver and the liability insurance offered by the rental company.
