Mike Hines joined the Office of the Provost in February 2021 as the Director of Communications and Academic Initiatives. He took on the role of Assistant Vice President of Executive Communications in January 2023.

As Assistant Vice President of Executive Communications, Mike leads communications for the President, Provost and other senior leaders of the University, developing and implementing coordinated communications strategies.

Mike came to »¨¼¾ÊÓƵ from Northeastern Illinois University, where he was responsible for a number of communications efforts, including executive, internal, media relations and website communications. Before entering higher education, Mike spent 15 years working in daily newspapers in various news, sports and features editing positions.

Mike earned his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Oregon and his MBA from Northeastern Illinois University.
